Sea Shanties

Status:Active, open to new members
Group email: Sea Shanties group
When: Fortnightly on Tuesday afternoons 2:00 pm-4:00 pm
Venue: Nailsea

The main point of the group is to get together to have fun singing sea shanties. No previous experience of sea shanties or singing groups necessary. Sea shanties teach us something about maritime heritage as they all tell a story.

Their popularity is down to the rousing choruses, and the invitation to sing loud and strong, as in South Australia and Blow The Man Down. There are also more lyrical songs, or plaintive laments, but they all raise the spirits and create togetherness.

Why not come and try it, and be uplifted by the power of shanties. Our aim is that you’ll leave the session with a smile on your face!

Limited singing talent will not bar membership of the crew but any reasonably tuneful singers would certainly benefit the rest of us!
