This group meets at Nailsea Croquet Club and has had a successful first season in 2025. Absolute beginners are given weekly tuition for a period of eight weeks and all the necessary equipment is provided. Sessions last for about two hours and include time for practice. There is a charge of £3 per sessions to cover the cost of the lawn hire and refreshments. Regular attendance is essential as the learning is structured. After the eight sessions, group members may join the Croquet Club if they wish to continue to play.
Croquet is an intriguing sport requiring both mental agility and physical co-ordination. Cricket, tennis, hockey, snooker, bridge and chess players often love croquet and make excellent players. Mathematicians and engineers enjoy the physics of ball interactions. The lawns at Nailsea & District Croquet Club are beautifully maintained and provide a good and consistent surface suitable for International matches.
We are now taking names for Spring 2026 with a limit of 8 places in each of two separate groups. Monday mornings and Wednesday evenings are the most likely meeting times but this is subject to confirmation. Please get in touch if you’d like more information.
