Woodspring u3a was founded in 1993 and has grown over the years to the point where we now have over 500 members.
Based in the two North Somerset valleys of the Yeo and Gordano, we cover many smaller towns and villages such as Backwell, Clapton, Clevedon, Congresbury, Failand, Kenn, Nailsea, Portishead, Tickenham, Walton, Weston-in-Gordano, Wraxall and Yatton.
We are part of the National and International U3A Trusts - see National u3a Organisation on the menu above. Each U3A branch is a democratic, self-funded, self-managed organisation.
We offer a programme of educational and leisure activities for people who have reached retirement age or who are close to it, and who are no longer working full time. Members contribute their experience, interests and enthusiasms so that everyone can learn from each other, and perhaps try things they haven't had the opportunity to try before. You don’t need any qualifications to join or lead any of the groups; all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to participate. Nor will you gain qualifications here; the u3a is about learning for fun, for the pleasure of stretching your mind and meeting people.
